I'm just getting back to reality after a much needed spontaneous getaway. Yes, that's right. Spontaneous.
July 1st marked the start of my PGY-2 year. As a way to transition into the new year, I decided to take last Thursday and Friday off, as well as the next Monday (the 4th). I was planning on a staycation that consisted of nothing but relaxation. The first couple of days included getting my hair done, getting a pedicure, and reading by the pool. It was divine. I couldn't imagine it getting any better until I woke up on Friday morning and Brian asked me if I wanted to go camping. Much to my surprise (and his), I immediately said yes. No hesitation. No second thoughts. Just a simple yes!
We packed up the next day and headed to Pisgah National Forest in Asheville, with the dogs and Brian's man-friend, David, in tow. We got so lucky to have the most amazing campsite in the entire forest, right beside the river. It was so peaceful, and we had it all to ourselves. It's funny to think that people pay money for a box that plays the same sounds!
This was Sophie's and Sully's first time camping, and they were awesome! They had the best time, and I could not have been more proud of them. They were such troopers on our 18-mile hike (yeah, we weren't really planning on hiking that far) and only had to stop a few times to rest along the way. They are already asking when we can go back!
