I have a dilemma. I can only have one running buddy, but there are 2 that really want to go with me. How do I choose? Sophie or Sullivan? I go through this every time I go for a run. Here is an example:
(mom comes home from work, greeted by both dogs at the door)
Sophie: Mom, where have you been? Let me smell...mmmm, smells like the hospital. What are you going to do now? I think I'll follow you around the house.
Sullivan: Mom. Mom. Mom. I have missed you. I need to lick your pants. RIGHT NOW!
(mom goes upstairs to change clothes, both dogs following)
Sophie: ooooh, are you putting on your running clothes? I see shorts!!! OH MY GOSH, NOW YOU ARE PUTTING ON A SPORTS BRA...NOW YOUR TENNIS SHOES! I AM SO EXCITED!!!! WE'RE GOING FOR A RUUUUUNNNNN!!!!
Sullivan: Mom. Mom. Where are you going? Can I go? I really wanna go with you. Anywhere. I don't care where we go.
Ugh. This is so hard. I have to choose who I take with me every time I go for a run. Today I took Sullivan. It really makes my heart hurt when I hear him cry as we're leaving, thinking that he got left out. Sophie, on the other hand, will be just fine in 5 minutes. Yes, she was my running buddy long before we added Sully to the family, but let's be honest. She'd much rather suck on her blanket anyways.
I really need to invest in one of those leashes that can hook up to 2 dog collars. That way, I could take BOTH of them, and I wouldn't have to make tough decisions. Or, Daddy could start running and we could each have a buddy. Novel idea.
